General Business

Feedback on the 2024/25 season

  • PH - Season went well for my team and was appreciative of the support from the club with new equipment. Felt that the muster was too late and made forming teams quite awkward

  • SB - had a good season, good group of boys

2025/26 season dates for junior cricket

  • Saturday's 18th October, 1st November, 8th November, 15th November, 22nd November, 29th November, 6th December, 13th December (8 games)

  • Christmas/Summer holidays, then - Saturday's 14th February, 21st February, 28th February, 7th March, 14th March, 21st March, and 28th March (7 games)

Junior playing subs

  • Last year was kept at $120. We need to increase fees to keep up with cost increases for comp and gear etc

  • Examples of other clubs - Albion = $145. Greerton = $160

  • Next year there will be a NZC technology fee to be paid for every registrant of between $7 to $10

  • Recommendation to move to $145 - accepted

Sponsorship

  • Junior team sponsors confirmed to continue with JBWere (previously Jarden Wealth), Bayleys (Riki Walls), Mount Capital and Sharp Tudhope for 2025 (3nd year of 3-year agreement)

  • MA to send invoices out ASAP

  • Sponsorships next year might be difficult to continue - Club committee will need to start building relationships

Online registration

  • WBOPC has opened the 2025/26 competition on Play HQ.

  • PH has entered Omokoroa Junior teams into the comp

  • PH to get the registration form open from Sep 2nd

  • PH has booked the use of Western Ave cricket pitch field area for practices every Tuesday and Thursday 3:30pm - 6pm

Junior muster

  • Do we need a muster day? Question around the value of the day - really need to get registrations as early as possible.

  • All teams must be entered and allocated to grades in PlayHQ before Sunday 5th October

  • Signs would only go up next weekend Sep 6th/7th

  • Only real options would be Saturday 13th September (morning), Sunday 14th September (afternoon) or first weekend of school holidays Saturday 20th / Sunday 21st.

  • Agreed to not have the Junior muster this year and encourage early online registration - deadline for reg will be Sep 30th

WBOP changes

  • WBOPC has aligned with the full summer season so we no longer have to register twice during the season. Registrations to the club will now be from start to finish.

  • WBOPC will be invoicing clubs for the full summer season in November

  • Dispensation / eligibility rules have been modified so that a player can start the season in the grade/year that they will finish the season in

Website & costs

  • Website hosting has just been renewed - cost is approx $250 per year

  • Website domain doesn’t expire till August 2027

Practice nets

  • Since the new school (and possibly new sports fields on Prole Road) have been put on hold, we can rekindle the conversation with WBOPDC about practice nets on the bottom field of Western Ave

  • MA to try and take the lead in restarting conversations with Peter Watson WBOPDC
